Summer and Winter Holidays in the Sciliar Area in the Dolomites
The hiking and skiing area of Gröden-Seiser Alm (Val Gardena-Alpe di Siusi) offers compelling trails, well-prepared slopes and challenging mountain bike trails
Situated in the UNESCO world heritage of the Dolomites, at the foot of the gorgeous Schlern (Sciliar) mountain and of the Seiser Alm (Alpe di Siusi), right in the middle of a rich cultural region, Hotel Perwanger is an ideal starting point for a vacation full of activity.
Sports, culture, entertainment and shopping - everything is nearby, from May to October and from December to April.
Winter
From 26 December to the end of the skiing season, Hotel Perwanger is a conveniently located starting point for winter sport adventures.
The well-developed Seiser Alm (Alpe di Siusi) skiing area features 60 km (37 mi) of slopes with a full range of difficulties. From the hotel, access to the skiing area is easy: first, take the free shuttle bus (about 5 min), then the cable car up to the Seiser Alm (15 min).
For a special challenge, try the adjoining skiing areas beyond the Seiser Alm - accessible with a single ski pass: the Skipass Dolomiti Superski. We are happy to help make recommendations for ski tour packages like the Plattkofel (Sassopiatto) ski tour and the tour around the Sella stock (Sellaronda). Avoid the queue and buy here your ski pass online.
For snowboarders and freeskiers, the King Laurin Snowpark, stretching over 1,5 km (1 mi), is the best place on the mountain. With a large number of obstacles, the Snowpark offers freestylers a choice for every experience level.
The Seiser Alm is also ideal for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and ice-skating. The cross-country area of the Seiser Alm features 80 km (50 mi) of groomed trails from easy to difficult. Ski tours enjoy an ever-increasing popularity. To round out the choices, you can also sled, paraglide or take a hike in the snow. Sledding is also possible in close proximity of the hotel - from the Tuff Alm down to the lake Völser Weiher (Laghetto di Fiè). A favorite among our guests is a night sledding run during the full moon.
And once you are back from your sports activities, leave your equipment and your boots in the hotel's heated ski deposit and allow yourself some après-ski relaxation at our fire-place, enjoying a beer or a fine glass of wine...
Summer
The Schlern (Sciliar) area is a famous hiking paradise for both the young and not-so-young. You'll find plenty of well-kept and well-marked hiking trails that vary in length and difficulty. To plan your hike, use the map on our website, otherwise we'll be happy to advise you.
Other sports facilities:
• Mountain biking - from the hotel, we rent well-kept mountain bikes to our guests;
• Swimming in our solar-heated open-air swimming pool or in the Völser Weiher (Laghetto di Fiè);
• Rock-climbing in the Schlern massif or in the Rosegarden (Catinaccio);
• Horse-back riding in Kastelruth (Castelrotto) and tennis in Völs (Fiè) or at the Völser Weiher (5 min by car);
• Golfing near Seis (Siusi);
• Paragliding.
Hiking
Starting from the hotel, you can hike through blossoming meadows and mixed woods to a mountain lake called Völser Weiher (Laghetto di Fiè), a bathing paradise right under the Schlern mountain. From there, proceed to the alpine pasture Tuff Alm (1,270 m/ 4,170 ft) or to the Hofer Alpl (1,364 m/ 4,475 ft). If that is not enough, walk through the dramatic gorge of the Schlern and up the "Prügelweg" to the top of the Schlern (2,457 m/ 8,061 ft) and the "Schlernhaus", probably the nicest mountain lodge in the Dolomites.
By car, or with the complimentary shuttle bus, you can reach the lower station of the Seiser Alm cable car within a few minutes. This cable car will take you to the Seiser Alm (Alpe di Siusi, 1,800-2,100 m/ 5,900-6,900 ft), a splendid plateau. With a surface area of 54 km²/ 21 mi², it is not only Europe's largest pasture, but certainly also one of its nicest. In summer, this fantastic hiking area is a wonderland of alpine flora that will be hard to find anywhere else.
Cool your feet in a mountain creek, take a leisurely stroll over the pastures, vigorously hike up a steep mountain, dare to climb a rock in the Langkofel and Plattkofel (Sassolungo & Sassopiatto) - you can be sure to find your calling.

The cities of Bozen (Bolzano) and Brixen (Bressanone) wait for you with their medieval arcades (“Lauben”), churches, museums, castles, musical and theater events, coffee shops and promenades. Klausen (Chiusa), Meran (Merano) and Sterzing (Vipiteno) are also at a comfortable distance.
